Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The City Museum will host an opening reception for Opposites; the 19th Annual 12x12 Community Art Exhibition.
During the reception, live music will be performed by local music students and music teachers.
The reception opens Mar. 3 from 4-7 p.m.
The opening reception is free and the exhibit will be on display through Apr. 15, 2023.
For nineteen years, the City Museum has hosted a unique community art exhibition in which artists of all ages are encouraged to create works within the parameters of a square or a cube, measuring 12" x 12" (by 12") including the framing.
This year, artists were encouraged to create on the theme, Opposites.
This theme lends itself to all artistic mediums and has a variety of interpretations.
Thirty community members have submitted pieces for the show.
In addition, the City Museum collaborated with pianist Tom Locher to bring live music to the opening reception.
Local music students and music teachers will play twelve-minute sets during the reception. Instruments include piano, violin, and guitar.
Juneau’s community members chose to interpret "opposites" at the opening reception in different ways.
