Utqiagvik, Alaska (KINY) Ronald Fischer killed a state prosecutor Brian Sullivan in 2014.
Fischer shot Sullivan with a shotgun in the home of his former paramour.
Superior Court Judge Gregory Miller sentenced Fischer to 99 years on a first degree murder charge and six years for an assault conviction.
Fischer asked the court for mercy as he apologized to the victim's family.
A jury found Fischer guilty last November. He is a convicted felon with a history of domestic violence
Prosecutor James Fayette in a sentencing memo said Fischer should be characterized as a "worse offender."
