1 new non-resident COVID-19 case reported in Juneau

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reports one new non-resident case of COVID-19 in Juneau.

The person is a visitor to Juneau.

The non-resident case is part of 49 new cases statewide – 40 Alaska residents and 9 non-residents.

Cumulatively, Juneau has had six non-resident cases of COVID-19, one of which is active, and 46 resident cases. The non-resident case reported on July 3 was determined to be a resident, which accounts for the cumulative number going up without a reported new case.

Of that 46 total, one case is active, 43 have recovered, and two are deceased.

Within Juneau, Public Health Nurses are keeping track of 47 close contacts – individuals who have been within six feet of a confirmed case for at least 10-15 minutes and are now quarantining.

Alaska has had 1,226 cumulative resident cases – 646 are active – and a total of 248 non-residents. The state reported a new death yesterday; 17 deaths have now been attributed to Alaska.
