Leap into Family History
Saturday, February 29th
Spend your leap day learning about and exploring genealogy and family history resources at the Alaska State Library and Archives. From 10:30-noon, FamilySearch volunteers Richard and Laura Carmack will present Leap-SLAM-Dunk: Capturing Alaska’s Past, about the seven years of collaboration between FamilySearch and the Alaska State Archives to capture a selection of Alaska’s archival records for online familysearch.org databases. From 12:30-1:30 pm, Electronic Resources Librarian Kate Dunn will present What’s In A Name? An Ancestry Library Edition Workshop to walk you through using Ancestry (available at the Alaska State Library). The Reading Room will be open from 10:00 am-2:00 pm for genealogical research, and volunteers and staff will be on hand to help you sign up, sign in, and use genealogical resources.
