Two Ketchikan residents indicted

    Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) A grand jury returned an indictment on federal drug trafficking charges Thursday in U.S. District Court for alleged drug activity in southeast Alaska.

    Michael Anthony Welker, 54, and Mandy Elaine Bacus a/k/a Mandy Elaine Peters, 35, were charged with drug conspiracy.  They are accused of selling methamphetamine, LSD, cocaine, and heroin between June 1 and September 15, 2017.  An undercover officer allegedly able to purchase the drugs form the pair on multiple occasions.

    The pair was arrested on January 23 in Ketchikan.  The residence was searched and could be subject to forfeiture.  Both pled not guilty at an arraignment hearing on Thursday and their trial was set for April 2, 2018.

    Ketchikan Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency were involved in the investigation.
