Two Anchorage Shootings Claim Two Lives

    Anchorage, AK (AP) - There were two shootings over the weekend in Anchorage, claiming the lives of two men, one in each incident.

    Anchorage Police reported that 20-year-old Brandon Irlmeier died Saturday night. Responding officers found Irlmeier dead with a gunshot wound at east Sixth Avenue and Oklahoma Street near Creekside Park and Creekside Park Elementary School. A 21-year-old man was taken into custody for questioning and jailed on an outstanding warrant for violating probation.

    Police also reported that a 26-year-old man was shot and killed in southeast Anchorage. Police at 10:45 p.m. received a report of shots fired near Lake Otis Parkway and 68th Avenue. Police say Joshua Statham apparently got into a fight with another person and was shot. Statham died at a hospital.
