Troopers kill man

    Nikolaevsk, Alaska (KINY) Alaska State Troopers shot and killed a man who left a Trooper incapacitated.

    Nikolai Yakunin, 42, was fatally shot Saturday evening as officers responded to a report of felony probation violation.  Mr. Yakunin allegedly injured and incapacitated one trooper.  The trooper was taken to a hospital in Homer for treatment of serious injury.

    A Trooper dispatch said Yakunin was shot to prevent further assaults on any trooper or bystanders.

    The case remained under investigation and the troopers who fired shots will the named this week.
