Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - There will a first for the Christmas Tree at the Governor's Mansion this year.
Regional Forester Beth Pendleton of the Alaska Region of the U. S. Forest Service says the tree will come from the Tongass National Forest under a new program called the Governor's Good Neighbor Holiday Tree.
In cooperation with the Governor's Office and the communities of Yakutat and Juneau, the federal agency will also be providing decorations for display at the Governor's House. Ornament making events are taking place in Yakutat schools and at the Juneau Pioneers Home.
