M J Grade Youth Services Librian for the Juneau Libraries announced on Capital Chat that the summer reading program registration begins Saturday:
"We've been touring the schools in Juneau, actually we're still going another couple days and kids are coming in saying they want to register and we're thrilled, but we'll be ready for you on Saturday. That will be the first official launch of the Summer Reading Program. Come in, sign up, pick up your reading games, and read for fun but tell us about it. We'll be two giving prizes from every facility from the Douglas, the Downtown, and the Valley library. Two kids get prizes every week. They need to tell us what they read about in a book. We've got little review forums, you submit them and we read them, and we give prizes. The prizes come from the businesses of Juneau and so they're donated from everybody who cares about supporting the kids who read. We have so many materials, we've got stuff online, check out the webpage, there's this downloadable called SYNC, every week there's two books that are paired and there are no limits of how many people can download them. They're only available that one week but it will stay on your device after that. You don't have to read it that week, you just have to take that offering."
Registration for the summer reading program is Saturday. Find more information here.
