Stabbing results in man's death with a suspect in custody

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - One man is in custody and another dead following a stabbing downtown early Thursday morning.

    Juneau Police official Erann Kalwara says the initial 9-1-1 call reported a fist fight on South Franklin near Front Street.  Another call about a minute later reported a man had been stabbed.

    The first police officer arrived on scene and contacted the victim on the ground bleeding from his torso, according to Kalwara.   Within minutes, she says multiple officers were on scene investigating the incident. A person of interest, a 39-year-old man,  connected to the stabbing was contacted and detained. His identity has not been released at this report since charges are pending.

    The victim is identified as 47-year-old William Scott Campbell.  He was transported to the hospital with three stab wounds.   Since he was deemed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries he was medevaced to Seattle but died en route.

    Kalwara says the investigation is ongoing.
