SOFA marking five years of helping animals in Southeast Alaska

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - SOFA, the Southeast Alaska Organization for Animals, is marking its fifth anniversary this month.

    The animal welfare and rescue organization is based in Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka with a mission to serve communities throughout Southeast Alaska.

    President Bri Brint  said  Action Line Friday that several animal lovers decided in 2012 that their was a need to come to the aide of abandoned animals in Southeast Alaska.

    They rely on donations which can be arranged by going to their website at www.aksofa.org

    Brint says all donations go to veterinary care, food for foster families who care for the animals, and travel expenses.
