Smoking ban unlikely

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) State representative Gabrielle LeDoux is again standing in the way of a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants in Alaska.

LeDoux held up the bill last year as chairwoman of the House Rules Committee.

State Rep. Matt Clayman said in a press briefing this week that LeDoux does not appear motivated to let the bill be heard by the full house.

The City  and Borough of Juneau already has a public smoking ban.

Sen. Peter Micciche of Soldotna has proposed a no smoking bill for that chamber to consider this session.
