Small cruise ship departs Juneau, first big vessel arrives at end of month

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The first big cruise ship of the season arrives in Juneau on Monday April 30.

It will be the Ruby Princess, according to Kirby Day of Princess Tours, who was on Action Line Monday.  He said there will be about 32-hundred passengers on board.

Liz Perry of Travel Juneau said they are working with City Hall on a community welcome when the vessel arrives at about 11 that morning.

The cruise ship season won't end until October 2.  The Westerdam and the Norwegian Pearl will conclude the season that day.

The season actually started on a small scale over the weekend.  Uncruise Adventures  launched the first voyage of the Wilderness Adventurer from Juneau  Saturday evening.  Perry said it was packed.
