Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - A 38-year-old man is behind bars facing robbery and other charges.
Juneau Police said Charles Clasby parked behind the Grind Coffee Shop on Jensine Street just after 4:15 this morning and approached the on-duty barista, a 24-year-old Juneau female.
Clasby told the barista he was going to rob the store, returned to his car, covered his face, armed himself with a wrench and began walking back to the barista, police said.
In response, the barista fired one round from a handgun into the air. Clasby returned to his vehicle and attempted to ram the coffee stand with his car.
Police said $3,000 in property damage was reported. There were no injuries. The barista got into a car of a customer waiting in the parking lot and fled the area.
Clasby faces charges of robbery in the first degree, two counts of assault in the third degree, two counts of criminal mischief in the third degree and violation of conditions of release.
