Police intercept drugs in Ketchikan

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers report they have seized $30,000 in illegal drugs.

    Troopers also reported two arrests in the case.

    Melissa Charles, 27, of Hydaburg, and Laneea Naufahu, 41, of Anchorage will face multiple charges including misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second degree.

    Troopers said 39 grams of methamphetamines, 39 grams of heroin, and some prescription pills were seized in the case.

    Ketchikan Airport Police, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, and the US Forest Service assisted in the investigation.

    Both of the suspects were held without bail at the Ketchikan jail to await a court appearance.
