PFD applications projected to decline again this year

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The deadline for Alaskans to file for the 2018 Permanent Fund Dividend is at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.

Sara Race is the director of the Permanent Fund Dividend Division in the State Revenue Department.

She was asked on Action Line Monday how many applications the division has received to date.  "Right now we've received about 487,000 applications and we are still keying paper applications, so we expect the number in house is actually quite a bit bigger than that.  And for us to reach a similar number to what we received last year we'll still need to receive roughly 160,000 applications before March 31."

She says they're expected to receive about 5,000 less applications than last year when the number declined to  615,590

The number of applications peaked in 2015 at 641,561.  That number fell by nearly 34-hundred in 2016.
