Motorcycle crash sends Ketchikan man to Seattle hospital

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska State Troopers said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

    Troopers reported Robert Young, 30, was operating a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on the South Tongass Highway when he lost control, and struck a mailbox and a parked vehicle.

    The crash was reported just after 4 pm on Tuesday.

    South Tongass Volunteer firemen were able to free Young from underneath the parked vehicle.  He was transported to Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center and then medevaced to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

    Troopers said Young suffered serious injuries in the crash but was listed in stable condition.
