Man sentenced for stealing US mail

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) 60 Apple computers were being mailed to Alaska villages but never got there.

Bread of life "Presley' Faiupu, was sentenced to five years probation, and six months of community confinement in a halfway house.  He was also ordered to repay $90,000 in restitution.

U.S. Attorney Bryan Schroder said Faiupu was a former Ravn Alaska supervisor.  He pled guilty to conspiracy and mail theft.

The charging documents said Faiupu and co-defendant Congress Lepou abused their positions as supervisors at Ravn Alaska, stole computers through the mail and then recruited those they supervised to help find buyers for the stolen computers.  The men would then share the proceeds of the computer sales with the employees to ensure their silence.

The majority of the computers were being mailed to school districts in remote Alaska villages.
