Man sentenced for prison smuggling

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Chad Kreftmeyer, 36 pled guilty in two different cases.

    Kreftmeyer was one of eight people arrested in December 2017 and charged with conspiracy to bring heroin, methamphetamine, and suboxone into Lemon Creek Correctional.

    One of them, Jerry Active, 29, is serving a 359-year sentence for two murders he committed in Mountain View.

    Kreftmeyer pled guilty to charges of promotion of contraband and received six years in prison.  He will also serve three years on probation.

    There were five other drug charges dismissed in the case.

    The sentence was handed down by Juneau Superior Court Judge Amy Mead.
