Man Dies in Ketchikan Stabbing

Ketchikan, AK (KINY) - A death in Ketchikan last Friday where a man had been stabbed to death with a kitchen knife has been detailed in a press release from police.

On January 12th around 9:00pm, Ketchikan Police officers responded to a home in the 1600 block of Tongass Avenue following a report of an altercation between two males. The caller had said that an injured man was still on the scene and the other had left the area. Officers then found Aaron B. Dixon, 31-years-old, who had received multiple stab wounds to his upper body. A thirteen inch kitchen knife was found close by, covered in blood.

Officers performed CPR until Dixon was transported to the Peacehealth Medical Center by EMS, where he was later pronounced dead. Next of kin were notified.

About four hours later, Darrell T. Ryan, who is 38-years-old, was determined to be a suspect and was placed under arrest for Murder in the Second Degree. Ryan claimed that he had stabbed Dixon in response to feeling like his life was threatened. Ryan was transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was held without bail.

An autopsy will be conducted for Dixon by the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage.
