Shortest Day of the Year Upon Us

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The winter solstice will occur at 7:27am Thursday morning.

    There will be 6 hours and 22 minutes of daylight in Juneau with sunrise occurring at 8:45 a.m. and sunset at 3:07 p.m.

    The amount of daylight will be 11 hours and 54 minutes shorter than the summer solstice in June. The further north, the shorter that day will be.

    Anchorage will receive 5 hours and 28 minutes of daylight. Fairbanks will get 3 hours and 42 minutes.

    Barrow started 67 days of darkness on November 18. The sun will rise again there at 1:26 p.m. on January 22 and set again about 26 minutes later.
