Kotzebue, AK (KINY) - A search and rescue effort found a man safe after he was overdue from returning from a snowmachine trip.
According to Alaska State Trooper reports, Floyd Reed, a 33-year-old of Kotzebue, was traveling from Buckland to Kotzebue. On Sunday afternoon the Northwest Arctic Borough Search and Rescue Coordinator reached out to Alaska State Troopers for assistance in finding Reed.
Two ground teams were dispatched. An off-duty AWT who had recently returned from a weekend trip in a personal plane reported seeing a single set of snowmachine tracks on Kobuk Lake. Ground teams then used that information to find Reed later that evening. Reed was reported to be safe from injury. AST extended their gratitude to the ground teams and the NWAB SAR Coordinator for their efforts in finding Reed.
