Ketchikan ready for larger ships

    Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) The Ketchikan city council moved ahead with plans for larger berths for cruise ships.

    Berth one has been chosen for construction.  They plan to use bonds to pay for the improvements needed.

    The options allows mega ships at berth 1 and a normal size ship at berth 2.

    The Ketchikan dock company leases berth 4 to the city.  They have plans to expand that berth for mega ships.

    Over 1 million visitors came to Ketchikan last year.
