Juneau's Traditional Winter Gear Consignment Sale Happened Saturday

The Derr family enjoyed 'Ski Swap'

Juneau, Alaska (KINY Snow Enthusiasts Line Up In New Snow for Juneau's Traditional Winter Gear Consignment Sale. The Sale has been happening in Juneau for at least 65 years, hosted at schools before Centennial Hall was built.

Organizers say this event has been going on in Juneau for over 65 years, they have lost count, starting in schools then moving to Centennial Hall.  While people wanted to get there early, they didn't need to know anything about snow sports, according to organizer and ski patrol volunteer Malou Peabody.
Peabody says volunteers will help match people with gear based on ability and size.

The annual ski sale and swap is a fund-raiser.  Organizers take 25% of the sales price to support the Juneau Ski Club, a youth ski-racing organization, and the volunteer ski patrol at Eaglecrest.  The sale was only three hours long, 10am to 1pm on Saturday.

Eaglecrest is scheduled to open December 2, 2017.
