Juneau, AK (KINY)-Unemployment numbers are holding steady in Alaska according to a report issued by the State of Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce development today concerning November statistics. Juneau has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state for November at 4.9 %.
Economist Karinne Wiebold says Juneau is one of the communities that is doing the best in the area of employment rates. Juneau has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state for November at 4.9 % up just slightly from October.
[Weibold says the towns struggling this time of year are dependant on tourism dollars. Skagway and Denali both have unemployment rates or around 20%.
Around the state oil and gas jobs were down by 7.8 percents and construction is down 4.8 percent. Health care was the only area to add jobs in November.
