If you've ever wondered if you're in the shape required to join the Juneau Police Department, your opportunity to find out is coming up.

JPD Lt. Kris Sell has details, "Have you ever wondered if you can pass the physical test to be hired as a police officer at the Juneau Police Department? Are you thinking of applying to be a Juneau Police Department officer in the future? You can take the physical test for officer on May 5th, 9:00AM, and find out where you stand and if you need to train in a particular area. The test will be at the Dimond Park Field House. There is no cost or commitment to apply associated with the practice test. You do need to be 18 years old or older, or older, or have a parent with you in order to take the test. The specifics of the test are that there are five events to be tested in order and with a short rest in between. People taking the test have the goal of doing a 300 meter sprint in 77 seconds or less, jump at least 14 inches, and do 21 push ups. Then the person testing will try to do at least 15 sit ups and run 1.5 miles in 17 minutes and 17 seconds. You do not need to sign up for the test. People wanting to take the test should come to the Field House on May 5th at 9:00AM."

Again, anyone wanting to take the test should come to the Dimond Park Field House at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5.
