Forest Service plans workshops for local contractors to bid on $15 Million of contracts

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The Alaska Region of the U. S. Forest Service is working to get local contractors registered to bid on supplies, services and construction contracts for the agency this year.

Rachael Lesslie, an acting regional public affairs specialist for the agency, says they have $15 Million they're looking to obligate.  They'are holding two free workshops in Hoonah and Juneau in order to find small businesses that may qualify to bid on those contracts and also help businesses who are currently not qualified to become qualified to bid.

The workshop in Juneau is scheduled Friday, October 26 in Room 541 of the Federal Building from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The Hoonah workshop occurs Thursday, October 25, at the Forest Service Ranger District Office.  A focus on government to government business is planned from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with a focus on Hoonah businesses planned from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Lesslie says participation in the workshops is free.

A webinar will be provided for those unable to attend the workshops.  To participate go to the Alaska Procurement Technical Assistance Center website at www.ptacalaska.org

Those who plan to attend the workshops  in person also need to register there.
