Ferry Way work to begin

    Juneau, Alaska (KINY) -The CBJ expects work to begin March 4th weather permitting on a reconstruction of Ferry Way.

    Arete Construction was selected as the contractor for the next phase of the Juneau Downtown Street Improvement Project.

    The substantial completion date is May 15 and all work is expected to be complete on June 1.

    Construction will include new sidewalks, roadway, lighting, drainage improvements, and new landscaping features. Alaska Electric Light & Power and Alaska Communications will perform electrical and communications utility work, including demolition of the utiliwalk that runs beneath the sidewalk and replacement of the switchgear at the corner of Ferry Way and South Franklin Street.
     
    Ferry Way will be closed to through traffic during construction, but pedestrian routes will be provided for the duration of the project. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to use caution in the area and to look for construction signage. Shattuck Way will remain open during construction.
