Docks and Harbors board meets

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Work is set to begin to get the cruise ship season underway.

The Regular CBJ Docks and Harbors meeting went smoothly, as some money will be recommended to be transferred to the Statter Harbor Phase III project, as well a contract to work on the Downtown Waterfront.

Successfully going through the Consent Agenda is the transfer of $690k from the Aurora Harbor Improvements Capital Improvement Project to the Statter Harbor Phase III Capital Improvement Project. Similarly, $10k will be transfered from the Cruise Berth Improvement CIP to the Dock Cathodic Protection CIP.

Under new business, the board approved a contract award for the Downtown Waterfront Improvement CIP, which will send $200k to PND Engineers for bus staging and open space decking.

Harbor Master Dave Borg said there is a lot to look forward to as spring arrives, "We will be firing up everybody on Monday.  We will havea full compliment of folks down at the docks and cruise ship terminal.  We will see a lot of pressure washing and cleaning, people will be putting up banners, a whole myriad of things."

Borg did urge residents to clean up and curb their dogs on the docks.
