Disraught man shot and killed in Fairbanks

    Fairbanks, Alaska (KINY) Police said they were forced to shoot a man at a busy intersection on Christmas Eve.

    A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said the man was armed with a gun, walked into a residential area in the northern part of the city near Steese Highway and Johansen Expressway, and pointed the gun at officers.  The dispatch also reported that both Troopers and local police fired on the man.

    Fairbanks Police also assisted in the incident.  Authorities have not yet identified the man and few details were released.
