Dallas Seavey officially bows out of Iditarod

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Instead of competing in the 2018 Iditarod Sled Dog Race, a four time champion is headed overseas to race.

Four time winner of the Iditarod, Dallas Seavey, said he has signed up to participated in Norway's Finnmarkslopet race next year.

Seavey was accused in a dog-doping scandal when Iditarod officials said four of his dogs tested positive for a banned substance during last year's race.  Seavey has denied any wrongdoing.

The Finland race will measure 745 miles and will also take place next March around the time of Iditarod.
