Contestant dead near Arctic man

Paxson, Alaska (KINY) A 31 year old man was found dead under a snow machine at the Arctic Man competition Saturday.

Alaska State Troopers said Clayton Kaigelak, of Nuiqsut, had been reported missing a day earlier after he failed to return from an evening ride.  Arctic Man organizers said the man was not competing in the competition.  Troopers said it appeared the snow machine crashed into debris caused by an earlier avalanche.

The Arctic Man is an annual snow-machine race that takes place in the Hoodoo Mountains near Summit Lake.
