Climbers presumed dead

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Two men who went missing during a climbing expedition are now presumed dead at the Mendenhall Towers.

A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said rescuers found climbing ropes that matched the description of the two climbers on the towers Tuesday in a crevasse down the fourth tower.   The rescuers determined that the danger of avalanche and safety hazards did not make conditions safe for a recovery effort.

Family members of Ryan Johnson 34, of Juneau and Marc Andre Leclerc, 24, of British Columbia, have been notified  The men had been missing for over a week.
