Friends of the SLAM, Bride Siefert, was a guest on Capital Chat with host Sharon Gaiptman Monday, describing the big fundraiser for the new state museum, library and archives building opening in Juneau. "You are going to get to see parts of the museum that no one else may ever get to see.", said Siefert. June 4th, Saturday night from 5:30 to 8:30, you're going to have a behind the scenes tour. Not only will you get to see the beautiful Eagle Tree and the atrium, the library will be open. You'll be able to see the conservation lab, the exhibit and fabrication shop, supposedly the best shop in all of town, and the collection ball where we keep our most sacred objects. You'll actually get to take a look at the vault and the collections vault. So get your tickets! Come for the whole time. The tour only lasts an hour and fifteen minutes. We're going to break it up into two chunks. You have the option right now of picking from a 6:00PM start or a 7:15PM start for the tour. Make sure you get there! You're going to be able to explore the galleries and the atrium, hang out, enjoy food, music, beautiful people, and part of our beautiful community. It's going to be a real celebration."
Official opening of the SLAM building is Monday, June 6th.
