Bears hockey drops season opener to Colony

    Palmer, Alaska (KINY) - The Juneau Douglas hockey team opened up their season Thursday with a 3-1 loss to Colony.

    The Juneau Douglas hockey team opened up their season Thursday at the Palmer Showdown, losing 3-1 to the Colony Knights.

    Head coach Luke Adams said his team will "live to fight another day" and he congratulated his team on their level of play.

    "We had a pretty decent game and our junior, Bill Bosse, had a goal for us," Adams said. "Even though it was a loss I feel like we played a pretty good game."

    A bright spot for the team was goalie Cody Mitchell as he recorded 26 saves against the Knights.

    The Bears will take on Dimond on Friday at 2:15 pm. On Saturday they will face Wasilla starting at 1 pm. The squad will host Palmer next weekend at Treadwell Arena.
