"Flaky's Big Dream" is available at Hearthside Books

Author Dan Zobrist was showcasing his children's book in the Senate Building downtown during Juneau's First Friday gallery walk. A retired park ranger, Zobrist's story was inspired by a children's program he ran in order to teach children environmental science.

This book focuses on a character named Flaky who has a dream of moving a mountain, and learns how to do some from his friend, a glacier.

Dan says that the book helps to teach teamwork and perseverance, as well as the nature of glaciers.

The book "Flaky's Big Dream" is illustrated by Marylou Blakeslee
