The Assembly meeting as the Human Resources Committee will continue its work from last week tonight, Wednesday, on selecting a new Planning Commission member.

Committee Chair Loren Jones was a guest on Action Line last Friday.

"We interviewed five. We are interviewing two of those candidates once more on Wednesday. The planning commission is a very, very important board. They make a lot of decisions that never come to the Assembly unless they are on an appeal or a zoning, which is a legislative thing. They do conditional use permits. They do variances. They do a tremendous task, a tremendous job, so filling that position is an important thing."

The open seat is for a term expiring December 31, 2017.

The committee meeting convenes at 5 p.m. in Assembly Chambers at City Hall.

Following the special Assembly meeting, there will be the Assembly Finance Committee meeting in chambers to discuss the FY17/18 Proposed CBJ Budget, the Capital Improvement Projects Program Budget Plan, and the Property Tax Mill Rate FY17/18. Information will also be presented on the PERS/TRS Unfunded Pension Liability and the Renninger Subdivision Pacific Development Group Proposal.
