Juneau, AK (KINY) - The Juneau Assembly Lands Committee will be meeting next Monday at noon to further determine what will become of the Cornerstone facility at 9290 Hurlock Avenue.
The city's Land and Resources Division are looking to sell or lease the property at or below the fair market value, with an emphasis on selling to an organization that will further improve the community as a whole.
“This special meeting will give applicants proposing new uses for the Cornerstone facility an opportunity to make presentations, and give Lands Committee members a chance to ask questions to clarify proposals,” said Lands and Resources Manager Greg Chaney.
Six proposals have been received for the property: Alaska Legacy Partners, an assisted living facility for seniors; Aunt Margaret’s House, a halfway house and seasonal housing facility; Gehring Nursery School, for preschool child care; Polaris House, a mental healthcare service; the Glory Hole homeless shelter; and Prama Home, Inc., which would combine preschool education, senior care, and services for homeless youth.
No public testimony will be taken at the upcoming meeting, which will convene in the City Hall Assembly Chambers. The issue will be taken up again at the end of the month, where there will likely be a recommendation sent to the full Assembly.
