Alaska group considered for a Grammy award

    Wasilla, Alaska (KINY) The Alaska group known as Portugal The Man will be on pins and needles at the 2018 Grammy Awards ceremony.

    The band was formed in Alaska and now is based out of Portland, Oregon.  They produced the song "Feel it Still" which was nominated for best pop performance by a duo or group.  The song set a record for the most weeks, 20, on top of the Billboard Alternative Chart  this year.  It is one of only 12 songs in history that reached the reach the top of six or more of billboard's various charts.  

    According to Wikipedia, the group consists of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Jason Sechrist and Eric Howk. Gourley and Carothers met and began playing music together originally at Wasilla High School.  The group was signed by Atlantic Records in 2010.  They have released two albums on Fearless Records.   The Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for January 28.
