Capital Chat host Sharon Gaiptman sat down with JEDC Executive Director Brian Holst and associate Dana Herdon to discuss the 7th Annual Juneau Maritime Festival.

"This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate Juneau's maritime commerce, culture, and history," Holst explained. "It's a community event, and the impetus for it was just to remind ourselves how important all things maritime to our community. I mean, if we look at the fishing community and our harvesters, they're the biggest single private employer in Juneau. It's easy to forget that; we think of ourselves as a government town - which we are - but we need to remember that so many people in our community make their livelihood from the sea."

Holst further emphasized the importance of the community as reason, saying it's "a whole bunch of people pitching in together to pull off something fabulous."

More information on the 7th Annual Maritime Festival can be found on the Juneau Economic Development Council's website.
