5.1 magnitude earthquake strikes near Skwentna

    Skwentna, Alaska (KINY) - A medium-sized earthquake struck northwest of Anchorage on Monday night.

    A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck near Skwentna and is being followed by smaller aftershocks.

    The earthquake, which struck at 5:09 p.m., was felt as far away as Anchorage.

    According to the University of Alaska Fairbanks Earthquake Center the temblor struck at a depth of 40 miles.
