2 children rescued from icy cold waters

Bethel, Alaska (KINY) Two young children fell through the ice in western Alaska and were rescued by a good Samaritan.

KYUK-AM News said Cory LePore Sr. heard screams coming from a slough near a Bethel convenience store and saw a boy and girl waist deep in the water.

He instructed the kids to roll to a patch of nearby solid ground.  He ran to his truck to grab a pallet but before he could come back, another man,

Joseph Joekay pulled off his shoes and socks, dashed into the water, and pulled the children back to stable land.

Both children were treated at the scene by an EMS crew.
