Setback for NOAA-NMFS project
A letter sent to the city by the National Marine Fisheries Service regarding efforts to mitigate impacts on the Lena Point neighborhood if the proposed NOAA/NMFS facility is built there has most in the city government up in arms.  The letter by John Gorman says some of the improvements suggested by the city are aimed at fixing existing community problems, and funding for the facility won't be available to help cover those costs.   Assembly member Tom Garrett says the city has offered to help cover the costs of some of the improvements, but developers need to be negotiable in helping mitigate neighborhood concerns.

Kennicott delivery may be late
Officials with the Alaska Marine Highway System say the Kennicott may not be ready in time for her maiden voyage on June second.  Construction is at least six weeks behind schedule on the $80-million ship, but officials are optimistic that the Kennicott could be ready in time.  All the cabins on the Kennicott's initial voyage are already booked, meaning some passengers may be making alternate travel plans.

Campbell wants to fight Movers from inside
