Journeys in the Jibba Canoe with Wayne Price

    Event Summary

    Master Carver Wayne Price (Tlingit) will talk about creating and traveling long distances in his Jibba canoe. The canoe will be on view in the APK Atrium beginning in late October. Price is a member of the Wooshkeetaan clan. He is currently an associate professor of Northwest Coast Arts and Sciences at the University of Alaska Southeast. He recently completed the restoration of the Yaxté pole at Auke Rec and two of his masks are on display in the Alaska State Museum's cross-cultural exhibit. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Alaska State Library, Archives, and Museum.
