Celestial Navigation - Marie Drake Planetarium

A basic introduction to celestial navigation techniques used by mariners. Will include an introduction to sextants, star and planet identification, and brief history of celestial navigation from early navigators (Polynesians and Vikings) up until modern usage. The talk will be given by Neil Nickerson, Asst. Prof of Marine Transportation, UAS. To be followed by ‘The Sky Tonight’ on the Spitz projector.
